Description

The Marangu Route, also known as the "Tourist Route" or "Coca-Cola Route," is the easiest and most popular route on Mount Kilimanjaro. It has gradual and steady ascents, making it less painful and challenging compared to other routes. However, only about 35% of people reach the top due to a lack of preparation. The trekking journey starts at the southeast area near the Marangu Gate and takes a minimum of five days . The route has sleeping huts with dining halls and bunk beds equipped with mattresses and pillows. The descent is down the same path, which can make the route seem crowded. The Marangu Route is cheaper due to its proximity to the gate and Moshi, making it a shorter route to cover.

The Marangu Route is a good choice for those trekking during the rainy season (March through June), as the huts provide shelter from the rain.

This route offers stunning views of both peaks of Kilimanjaro, Kibo and Mawenzi. It is worth noting that the Marangu route is the only route where you ascend and descend using the same path.

We will send you a comprehensive equipment checklist, including items available for hire, upon inquiry. Prices are for the duration of the climb, not per day, and costs can be paid in USD$ cash at your briefing. All equipment is of good quality, however, we advise bringing your own walking boots, socks, and base layer clothing, as these will inevitably be a better fit than items you hire.
